Based on the work of Hearing the Future–National Medical Resource Survey of Deafness
Prevention and Treatment, MoH and Hearing the Future started HTF- SiteInvestigation
of Hearing Impairment Diagnosis and Treatment in 8 provinces. The aims of this investigation
are to collect the adequate information, assess and better understand the current situation
of deafness diagnosis and treatment, to improve the healthy hearing service quality. The
investigation has been finished successfully in December.
Hearing the Future Journal & E-Journal was launched based on previous work of HTF E-Newsletter.
Published quarterly and it is free delivery to the customers. Aiming at providing information to
government, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, special schools, manufactures, service providers
and patients, it facilitates China hearing health care development by introducing new technology
from advanced countries and promoting the best practices in China. It focuses on the hot issues
which concerns government, specialist, society and patients, as a communication platform for
organizations & individuals; it bridges between professionals and patients.
On Ear Care Day (3rd of March) of 2011, Hearing the Future-Hearing Aids Donation Activity kicked
off. HTF donated 10 advanced hearing aids to 10 hearing impaired children in Chongqing Rehabilitation
Center. The value of this donation is about RMB130,000. HTF believes these hearing aids will help
the hearing impaired children to hear better and pursue a better future.
In order to get the whole picture and accurate data of resources for national deafness prevention
and treatment in hospitals, HTF–National Medical Resource Survey of Deafness Prevention and Treatment
started with Ministry of Health (MoH) together. This national survey will provide the necessary
information to make the state-level guideline and national strategy for deafness prevention and
treatment; help to realize the goal of "everyone can access to rehab service" by 2015. The Survey
is conducted through a questionnaire accessed from HTF official website. Till the end of 2011,
almost 3000 hospitals have participated the survey.
China Audiology Summit (CAS) 2010 held ceremoniously in Shanghai on Oct 20-21, as
the highest level of conference in China hearing care filed. Same as CAS2008, it
was organized by Hearing the Future Project and Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck
Surgery Subcommission of Chinese Medical Association. The theme of this year’s summit
was “Communication & integration, 5-year review and outlook of prevention and rehabilitation
on hearing impairment”. Attendees of this summit were 160 elites coming from China
and overseas including government, hospitals/ rehabilitation centers, distributor
channels.
Hearing the Future White Papers launched. It is a full collection of Hearing the
Future’s articles published on academic magazines from 2006. Serving as a tool and
academic resource-sharing center among the professionals, the White Papers contain
of 37 articles, they cover the hot topics in the field of China hearing healthcare
and Hearing the Future development: audiology trend, professional education, industry
establishment, the latest technology, new-born baby hearing screening, hearing test,
hearing aids fitting as well as academic development and industry events.
The Expo Shanghai - Hearing the Future Exhibition, which is located inside of Life
& Sunshine Area, was visited by approx. 2 million people. As one of the most attractive
areas in this Pavilion, HTF area has won praise from the visitors and increases
public awareness of healthy hearing by interactive activity and high-tech products
demonstrated.
In order to better serve the professionals and the public, Hearing the Future website
was upgraded in 2010. The key contents in new website include: HTF News, CAHA Focus,
Academy Activity, E-learning, China Audiology Summit and Expo 2010 Hearing the Future,
etc
Hearing the Future Caring the Hearing Multimedia DVD published at the end of June.
As a very useful tool, this DVD helps to increase the public awareness about hearing
healthcare. It can be displayed by PC, TV and kiosk machine.
Through five years’ development, Hearing the Future not only organizes many events
for professionals, also conducts public awareness activities to promote the importance
of healthy hearing. On Ear Care Day of 2010, “Hearing the Future Caring the Hearing”
Brochure Series launched. This set of brochure includes: Hearing Healthcare Handbook;
Parents Book for Their Hearing Impaired Children; Guide to Hearing Aids; Manual
for Aged People’s Healthy Hearing.
"I hear"- National Essay Contest kicked off in Jan of 2010 by Hearing the Future.
The contest is calling all hearing impaired friends, the families, rehab center
teachers and all other service providers to participate and share their touching
story of HEAR with us. Some of essays are published on Hearing the Future website.
HTF-CAHA6 held in Xi’an on Oct 20-21.
HTF Audiology Resource Center & E center opened.
HTF participated 2010 EXPO Shanghai and will build a booth in Life & Sunshine pavilion,
demonstrating the theme of “enjoy hearing, enjoy life” and the concepts of “Importance
of the hearing” “How human being communicates with each other using hearing” “Experience
the feeling of hearing impaired” “Early detection, diagnosis and intervention of
hearing and hearing health care development” etc by means of high-tech and multimedia
approach.
HTF hearing healthcare brochure-series published, the 4 brochures cover the basic
contents of hearing healthcare, rehabilitation, hearing aids.
3 years after the project successfully conducted, HTF Newsletter 1st Issue published.
It aims to share hearing healthcare dynamics, which includes the major event of
the industry, technology, achievements and HTF news.
HTF Express launched in Shanghai. Equipped with hearing test devices and professionals,
it builds a platform to increase public awareness of hearing healthcare by delivery
the knowledge and service to public and hearing impaired.
"Hearing the Future-Caring the Hearing" End-user Seminar Activity Series were initiated,
it will provide hearing care knowledge and hearing solutions to public and hearing
impaired persons.
CAHA 5 was developed to be the China Audiology Summit (CAS), which is the highest
level conference in China hearing health care and rehabilitation field. It will
be one of the most vital platforms on improving China audiology and rehabilitation.
China Audiology Summit 2008 was held in Shanghai successfully.
Hearing the Future initiated an activity with CAHA members: Sparx Scientific Research
Project, to provide free service and hearing aids to hearing impaired children nationally.
Hearing the Future-International Audiology & Training Center (IATC) was established.
This Multi-functional Center will improve China audiology clinical, educational,
research fields significantly. It also provides complete hearing services for patients.
On WHO/WWHearing meeting, HTF was introduced to WHO/WWHearing.
CAHA 4 was successfully held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. During the meeting, all
members discussed the achievements and outcomes of HTF 2007, they also made 2008
plan. Prof. Peter Alberti attended the meeting and gave an excellent speech.
HTF management leaders visited MoH and CDPF officers and reported HTF development
and plan of CAHA 4.
4th China Advanced Hearing Advisory Board Meeting (CAHA 4) preparation meeting was
held in Beijing.
HTF management leaders and CAHA members attended 1st International Conference on
Prevention and Rehabilitation of Hearing Impairment held by WHO. HTF’s achievements
and influence have been recognized by all, and it was decided that HTF project will
be developed as an open platform to improve the whole industry development.
Initiated the idea to have China Audiology Summit-CAS
HTF management leaders visited MoH & CDPF officers and reported CAHA 3.
3rd China Advanced Hearing Advisory Board Meeting (CAHA 3) was held in Denmark.
CAHA members summarized HTF achievements of 2006 and made 2007 project plan. During
one year implementation, the project had been proceeded very successful and received
professionals as well as officials strong support and recognition. They all expressed
the hopes that the project can be developed further.
HTF management leaders reported HTF to Dr. Andrew Smith of WHO/WWHearing.
MoH, CDPF and GN ReSound·Asia draw up the draft of HTF Agreement.
MoH, CDPF and GN ReSound·Asia signed Hearing the Future – 5-year China National
Hearing Care Prevention and Treatment Program. Memo. It indicates that HTF project
formally started and began to implement.
Based on officers and professors’ advices, Hearing the Future – 5-year China National
Hearing Care Prevention and Treatment Program Protocol was revised and HTF Action
Plan was developed. The documents were submitted to MoH and CDPF again and received
strong support from officers.
GN ReSound·Asia president visited Director Wangyu and Gao Xuecheng and other officers
of Medical Administrative Dept. MoH; also he visited Director Tang Xiaoquan and
Vice Director Cheng Kai of CDPF. All these officers gave valuable advices on the
project’s future development.

Prevention and Treatment Program Protocol to MoH and CDPF.
2nd China Advanced Hearing Advisory Board Meeting (CAHA 2) was held in Beijing.
During this meeting, all attendees discussed and settled Hearing the Future – 5-year
China National Hearing Care Prevention and Treatment Program Protocol.

1st China Advanced Hearing Advisory Board Meeting (CAHA 1) was held in Beijing.
During this meeting, all attendees discussed China hearing loss prevention situation
and development, and established the proposal of 5-year China National Hearing Care
Prevention and Treatment Program.
GN ReSound·Asia management leaders accepted suggestions from professors and experts
of prevention and rehabilitation of hearing impairment in China, as well as officials
from Ministry of Health (MoH), China Disabled Person Fedration (CDPF). Based on
their opinions and suggestions, China Advanced Hearing Advisory Board Meeting (CAHA)
was established and CAHA 1 meeting was prepared to hold soon.
