Among the five senses, people depend on hearing to provide the primary cues for conducting the basic activities of daily life. Hearing is defining elements of the quality of life. Hearing may be diminished or lost because of heredity, aging, injury, or disease.

The objective is to improve the hearing health care in China through prevention, early detection, treatment and rehabilitation, and thus reducing the socio-economic burden of hearing impairment.

Feb of 2011 HTF–National Medical Resource Survey of Deafness Prevention and Treatment started with Ministry of Health (MoH) together.
Nov of 2011 Hearing the Future Journal & E-Journal was launched based on previous work of HTF E-Newsletter.
Dec of 2011 MoH and Hearing the Future started HTF- Site Investigation of Hearing Impairment Diagnosis and Treatment in 8 provinces.
